PROMOTER’S CUP REVIEW MOST
Jamie Anderson returned to racing after the summer break with a bang, as he took two overall and two Promoter’s Cup wins last weekend at Most.
The British racer brought his A game to the Czech circuit, as he started off the weekend with posting the third fastest time in first qualifying, only half a second off pace-setter Kiss.
He couldn’t take full advantage of the category pole in race 1 though, as he suffered some damage in the opening few laps, which put him back into second place.
In race two, where Anderson started behind Lukas Hahn in second on the grid, it looked like the German was going to repeat his feat at the Nürburgring, however Anderson stole the victory off him in a final corner move to secure his third overall victory as well as the Promoter’s cup win.
Anderson repeated his last-minute dive from Race Two to take the bottom step of the Promoter’s Cup podium and reverse gird pole from Steffen Faas on the line, before he took his fourth overall victory of the season and ninth Promoter’s Cup win in a dominant lights-to-flag display for the final race at Most.
For French Buggyra racer Téo Calvet it was a successful weekend on his team’s home turf, as he took two category victories and a podium and despite Anderson’s charge, Calvet is still on top of the leader board, 7 points clear of the Brit.
Shane Brereton and José Rodrigues both had podium visits as they battled hard throughout the weekend.
It wasn’t a smooth start in Most for tankpool24-Racing driver Steffen Faas as him and Steffi Halm came together at the start of Race One, which brought out a red flag and stopped the race. With the truck leaking fuel, Faas wasn’t able to take the restart and had to sit out the first race of the day.
The German however had a great comeback in Race Two, finishing eighth overall and fourth in class and also took a solid points haul on Sunday.
Race by race entry Lukas Hahn had a great run on the weekend in Most, taking three Promoter’s Cup podiums. It was bittersweet third place in the second race on Saturday however as for most of the race it looked like another overall win for the German. Starting from class pole, Hahn had made great progress and defended well from a charging Anderson behind him, however it all slipped away when the Brit made a move in the last corner, which also allowed Adam Lacko to get through. A solid weekend though for the German, who’s had an incredible run so far this season.
For Lion Truck Racing driver Jonathan André his first outing in the Goodyear FIA ETRC in Most was all about track time and gaining race experience. He finished three out of four races and will continue to gain knowledge at the wheel of his MAN in the next round at Zolder.
BRERETON RETURNS TO TOP STEP OF OVERALL PODIUM
Having started on reverse pole, Shane Brereton drove spectacularly to take the overall win ahead of Téo Calvet and Sascha Lenz.
