KISS ON FINAL POLE OF 2025

Norbert Kiss has secured his 14th pole of the season as Mark Taylor and Clemens Hecker aim to fight back in Chrome championship.

Bettering his lap from yesterday by six tenths, Kiss took pole with an impressive 1:56.591. Sascha Lenz tried all he could to find time on the Hungarian, but even with a second flying lap could get no closer than eight tenths.

With Steffi Halm knocked out in Q2, starting second on the grid is a great result for Lenz. Halm has the advantage for overall third, but Lenz is only trailing by 12 points. The points difference between second and seventh is 11, so Lenz is in a strong place to take the fight into the final race of the season.

René Reinert had a great performance to take P3 on the penultimate grid of the season, ahead of Jochen Hahn. José Eduardo Rodrigues continued his strong form this weekend, and takes P5 ahead of Jarama’s favourite Antonio Albacete.

Albacete is coming back off a prop shaft failure and gearbox change yesterday, so he’ll be happy with the competitive performance in qualifying. The Spanish crowd will be cheering for him to end the season on a high.

Halm missed out on Q3 by three tenths of a second, and will share the fourth row with Chrome pole sitter Lukas Hahn.

Taylor and Hecker need a good Race 3 as the point scoring is higher, and they have the most points to make up. Taylor is 11 behind Bradley Smith in third, with Hecker 21 points in deficit. They start P2/P3 in class respectively, but importantly ahead of Smith and John Newell.

Newell found himself eliminated from Q1 by three tenths of a second, but it doesn’t seem as costly as Hecker’s Q1 elimination yesterday for his championship hopes. He is P5 in class behind Jonathan André and Smith, but unlike Hecker is still in touching distance of his competitors.

Steffen Faas, Luke Garrett, Craig Reid, Stefan Kursch and Simon Reid were also eliminated in Q1, completing the 18-strong field for the last race of the season.
