Taylor transforms with Goodyear FIA ETRC Free Practice 2 best
Mark Taylor got his Slovakia Ring weekend back on track with the fastest Free Practice 2 time in the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship’s Chrome category.
The defending Goodyear FIA ETRC Chrome champion was fifth quickest in the class for drivers with less experience and fewer top results and 12th overall in Free Practice 1. But Briton Taylor responded with the leading Chrome time and the third fastest of all in the final practice session before Qualifying 1-2-3 this afternoon.
Overall, Norbert Kiss was once again the driver to beat, the seven-time Goodyear FIA ETRC title-winner clocking a 2m42.398s best to edge out Jochen Hahn by 0.514s. Behind Taylor, Sascha Lenz was fourth fastest followed by José Eduardo Rodrigues.
Like Taylor, Rodrigues planned to work on truck set-up improvements following Free Practice 1 with the changes paying dividends.
Antonio Albacete was sixth quickest ahead of René Reinert, Steffi Halm, Steffen Faas and John Newell. Bradley Smith and Luke Garrett were next with Luis Recuenco 13th quickest in his all-new Mercedes-Benz. Clemens Hecker was unable to record a lap time.
Free Practice 2 was in readiness for Qualifying 1-2-3, which is due to get under way at 13:05 local time live on YouTube. Click HERE for live timing. All results are available via the Sportity app using the password: FIA_ETRC_26.
