Goodyear FIA ETRC Nürburgring raceday two round-up: Sensational Kiss fights through the pack to triumph

Norbert Kiss left his best to last, fighting through from eighth to first on the opening lap of Race 4 to make it three Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship victories out of four at the Nürburging this weekend.

Twice qualifying on pole position, Hungarian hero Kiss heads into the summer break leading the provisional standings by 62 points for Révész Racing in his bid for a record-extending eighth Goodyear FIA ETRC crown.

Part of the headline billing at the Int. Shell ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix weekend, the Goodyear FIA ETRC drivers and their teams delivered four action-packed races for the tens of thousands of fans in attendance at the sun-drenched German venue, with René Reinert joining Kiss as an overall winner after he took the chequered flag first in Race 2 yesterday (Saturday).

Having shared the Chrome category wins with Bradley Smith on Saturday, Mark Taylor proved unbeatable in both counters today. Taylor, the defending Chrome champion, also finished second overall to Kiss in Race 4 as Antonio Albacete completed the top three.

Spaniard Albacete also placed third in Race 3 behind winner Kiss and runner-up Jochen Hahn, who was voted by fans as the latest recipient of the Goodyear Wingfoot Award.

Race 3 and Race 4 winner Norbert Kiss said: “Race 3 was a good race, a good start but Jochen was very close, but not close enough to try something. In the middle sector I could start to pull away a little bit and start to build the gap. I could see they couldn’t really keep up, so it was a good race and a good performance. Race 4 was quite lucky for sure that they had some crash in front of us. Everybody lost the momentum or went to the wrong way or the outside. I kept to the inside and after Turn 2 I was already up to P2. Then Mark locked up his brakes in Turn 5 and by Turn 6 I was P1. It never goes like this in the reverse-grid race, but it was made easy for me. After that I just brought it home, so a very good weekend and a very nice job from Révész Racing, the truck works very well, the balance is really nice, so a big thank you for the team.”

Race 3 and Race 4 Chrome winner Mark Taylor said: “I had a good start in Race 3, there was no trouble in front, I just managed a good, clean race and that’s how I like them, let the battling happen behind us. I got José [Eduardo Rodrigues] at the start and, after that, it was a nice, clean and easy run, a good Sunday morning drive. Race 4 was one of my favourite ones. One minute you think you’ve got breathing space, the next minute Albacete is on you, so it was cat and mouse all the way round. It was good, a few mistakes but we kept it there. The team has worked so hard on the truck and to finish with what we have today has been a good outcome.”

All FIA ETRC drivers race with Goodyear’s new-for-2026 tyre, which features 60 per cent sustainable materials.
