KISS CONTINUES POLE RUN IN RECORD-BREAKING STYLE

Norbert Kiss has taken pole position ahead of the first race at Autodrom Most, breaking the lap time record set in 2009.

Norbert Kiss has returned from the summer break picking up where he left off, claiming another pole position of the 2022 season. He waited until Super Pole, however, to break the Autodrom Most Truck lap record, a record that had stood unchallenged for 13 years.

Following the usual pattern, Kiss lead the 14-strong grid to Super Pole with a time four-tenths slower than his record-breaking pole time. Jochen Hahn tried to challenge the 02:01.116 (two-tenths faster than the previous lap record set by David Vršecky in 2009) but could do no better than a 02:01.633.

The surprise of qualifying came from Jamie Anderson, who made his mark with the third fastest time, only half a second off pace-setter Kiss. In Super Pole, he looked to be struggling to contend with the Titan drivers, but going for a final flying lap he climbed up the leader board to take the Promoter’s Cup pole position from Téo Calvet and starts fifth overall, only beaten by Antonio Albacete and Sascha Lenz.

Adam Lacko split Anderson and his Buggyra ZM Racing teammate Calvet at the chequered flag, moving Calvet to start behind his Promoter’s Cup rival rather than beside him.

Steffi Halm qualified eighth ahead of Jose Rodrigues and Steffen Faas, who completed the top ten. This is the first time all season that four Chrome drivers have made it through to Super Pole. Shane Brereton had made a good final lap improvement in qualifying, but it wasn’t enough to put him in for the chance of fighting for class pole. He starts 11th on the grid ahead of Lukas Hahn and Jonathan André.

André Kursim, who had a difficult Friday, will start at the back of the grid, after a suspect steering failure caused him to crash coming out of Turn 11 and bringing the only red flag of the session.
