KISS TAKES FIRST NÜRBURGRING POLE AS HAHNS COMPLETE TOP THREE
It was Norbert Kiss on top at the end of the three qualifying sessions to set the grid for Race 1 with Jochen Hahn sharing the front row with him as he has so many times before.
It’ll be all about the run to the first corner as the two titans of the championship go toe to toe off the line in tomorrow’s first race of the weekend. Hahn will be looking to take the lead into the first corner, working with his son Lukas Hahn who starts P3 to try and bring home victory to the cheering crowds.
All drivers in the Q3 session managed to squeeze two flying laps out of the final five minutes of running, but the grid was set after the first laps were complete. It was a great session for Lukas Hahn, the only Chrome driver in the top three, who not only took Chrome pole position but P3 overall as well.
Antonio Albacete put in a great performance that, on track, earnt him P4 for tomorrow’s starting grid. However, a clip of a penalty marker in his final lap saw his lap time deleted, demoting him to sixth behind Steffi Halm and René Reinert.
Sascha Lenz will be disappointed to miss out on a Q3 performance, his lap time just seven thousandths of a second shy of the P6 benchmark. He will share the fourth row with second in Chrome Mark Taylor.
José Eduardo Rodrigues had a mixed session, almost being eliminated in Q1. He set a decent lap time and will start P9 for Race 1. Third in Chrome Bradley Smith completed the top ten, with John Newell and Steffen Faas the other Q2 qualifiers. Newell will be happy with P4 in Chrome after not taking part in the first practice sessions this morning.
Clemens Hecker appears to be suffering a boost issue this weekend, which has hampered his pace. He hasn’t been able to get going throughout practice, and the issue followed him into qualifying. He starts P16 ahead of Christian Ruppert, Luke Garrett, Luis Recuenco and returning Steffan Kursch filling spots P13-P15.
