Jarama race circuit awarded FIA One Star environmental accreditation

Madrid Jarama RACE Circuit, which has been a fixture on the Goodyear FIA ETRC calendar for many years, has taken several steps forward in its strategy to make sustainability one of its main lines of action. After more than 55 years of existence, and countless actions to adapt and modernise its facilities, the legendary Madrid track is set to become one of the most sustainable motor sports centres in Spain.

The evolution of the automotive sector, its technology and the introduction of alternative energies have led the Circuit to accompany the industry, both in the sporting field and in the events held there.

Among the initiatives implemented and commitments made by the Circuit, the 5% reduction in energy and water consumption by 2022 stands out. Likewise, areas of environmental impact were identified and are being monitored, and a new comprehensive environmental policy was created following both legal regulations and best practices. In addition, the Circuit has planted 350 trees in recent months with the aim of reducing its noise footprint.

Also, in order to meet the charging needs of electric vehicles that come to the Madrid racetrack, users and companies that carry out presentations at Jarama, six IONITY super-chargers have been installed in the Circuit's paddock, which will allow recharging in record time. This ultra-fast charging station is open to the public 24 hours a day and forms part of the IONITY network of electric charging stations.

Another significant milestone in the sustainability strategy of the Madrid Jarama-RACE Circuit has been its incorporation into the FIA Environmental Accreditation Program, as part of its CSR program #TransitionInMotion, obtaining a star for its environmental commitment that was awarded days before the celebration of the FIA World Electric Touring Car Championship in June.
