Chrome Class shake-up at Lausitzring

Taylor takes Chrome Class lead as Smith scores breakthrough win

The battle in the Chrome Class delivered plenty of excitement at the Lausitzring, with key shifts in the championship standings.

Mark Taylor emerged as the new class leader after a strong weekend that saw him take two wins and a second-place finish, edging ahead of Bradley Smith by nine points.

Smith, however, had reason to celebrate too, claiming his first-ever Chrome victory in Race 1 and briefly drawing level on points before Taylor pulled clear again.

Luis Recuenco showed consistency and pace all weekend – including a front-row start and a class podium that signalled a turning point in his season.

Meanwhile, the fight for third in the standings heated up as Clemens Hecker outscored John Newell, despite Newell’s solid, point-scoring consistency. Technical trouble hampered Luke Garrett, who was hit with repeated over-speeding penalties and a broken steering arm that ended one of his races early.

Christian Ruppert continued his learning curve in the Chrome class in his second weekend in the championship, while Steffen Faas collecting some much needed points with a fifth-place finish in Race 1 and a seventh in Race 2.
