SLOVAKIA RING PREVIEW

After a two year break, the Goodyear FIA ETRC returns to the Slovakia Ring for round three of the 2022 championship.

Current leader in the standings Norbert Kiss has scored five victories in eight races so far. The competition has been fierce and his closest rivals, Sascha Lenz and Jochen Hahn, won’t give up the fight for the top spot easily. The trio has been on the podium together 3-times already this season.

Adam Lacko took his first win of 2022 at the Hungaroring three weeks ago. For the Czech driver the race at the Slovakia Ring is almost a second home race, and he will be looking to collect more silverware this weekend.

Spanish racer Antonio Albacete scored a win at the Slovakia Ring back in 2019 and with a mixed weekend in Hungary, he will be keen to get back in the mix with the front runners.

Even though she’s had consistently great pace in the first two rounds, Steffi Halm is yet to finish on the podium. The German driver has been a regular on the top steps at the Slovakia Ring in the past and will be looking to get her first Top 3 finish of the season this weekend.

With one podium under his belt from the Hungaroring, Don’t touch racing driver Andre Kursim has put himself in the mix with the front group and will want to continue his strong performance.

The battle in the Promoter’s Cup is heating up, as Shane Brereton took over the lead in the standings with a double win in Budapest.

The British driver has been fighting closely with Teo Calvet in the first two rounds of the season. Calvet has shown fast pace throughout and the French racer will be looking for a clean run after a somewhat mixed weekend at the Hungaroring, that saw him retire twice.

Jamie Anderson found some tailwind in Budapest, taking home two wins and a podium. The British racer has bettered his performance from the season opener in Italy and will be one to watch for the upcoming weekend.

Steffen Faas will be looking for a clean run at the Slovakia Ring, as his campaign in Hungary was hampered by technical issues that prevented him from taking to the grid on Sunday.

Clemens Hecker too scored his first podium of the season in Hungary and he will want to add more success in Slovakia in his new Scania.

After a break at the Hungaroring, Portuguese racer Jose Rodrigues is back on the ETRC grid.

Another familiar truck racing face will line up at the Slovakia Ring: Spaniard Luis Recuenco joins the field this weekend as a race by race entry.

Follow the racing live, starting with qualifying on Saturday at 11:45 local time.
