Mika Mäkinen in the points on Goodyear FIA ETRC comeback
Mika Mäkinen was back on Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship duty during the Circuito de Madrid Jarama – RACE season finale earlier this month – and back scoring points.
Taking over daughter Emma Mäkinen’s Mad-Croc-backed IVECO, the former FIA ETRC regular and multiple Finnish champion finished seventh, eighth and ninth in the Chrome classification in the three races he started in Spain, while an air compressor issue prevented him from taking part in Race 3.
Before the start, Mäkinen, who last raced in the FIA ETRC in 2019, said: “I like truck racing and Emma couldn’t drive here so I have come here. I’m here just for fun, there are no expectations.”
Mäkinen’s exploits during the 39th Grand Prix de España FIA Europeo de Camiones event left him 13th in the final Chrome standings with nine points.
