Lukas Hahn wins big, Newell wins bigger in Goodyear FIA ETRC Chrome contest

Lukas Hahn scored his second Chrome victory during the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship season finale as John Newell became provisional champion* by finishing third in the category and, crucially, one place in front of last year’s title winner Mark Taylor.

Taylor needed to bank four more points than his fellow Briton Newell to keep the title chase alive into the upcoming Race 4. Instead, he finished one place behind Newell as Bradley Smith placed runner-up to Hahn in the penultimate race of 2026.

“Superb, I’m over the moon with that,” new Goodyear FIA ETRC Chrome champion* Newell said. “It worked out that little bit easier than I thought it would do but once we started pulling a gap I could relax a bit, just kept it safe and it’s done now.”

“It was a tricky race because of Antonio [Albacete] and Sascha [Lenz] battling, but I was just looking that we don’t crash the truck and can have a good result in the end in Chrome,” Lukas Hahn said. “But all was good, the truck is fine and P5 overall and P1 in Chrome we are really happy.”

Meanwhile, recently-crowned eight-time Goodyear FIA ETRC champion Norbert Kiss continued his 39th Grand Prix de España FIA Europeo de Camiones weekend in style by winning outright for the second time in as many days. Starting from his 14th pole position Kiss increased his tally of wins this season to a staggering 20.

Kiss said: “Good start is always the key, confident braking to Turn 1 then I could go in front and again a good job from the team, Révész Racing. Even though we already won the championship in Le Mans we arrived very well prepared to Jarama so we could do the maximum as well here. Pole position, the race victory, the pace was good, the tyres were working very well to the end. We’re very happy.”

The Révész Racing driver beat IVECO-powered Jochen Hahn with home hero Antonio Albacete third for T Sport Bernau. Sascha Lenz overtook Lukas Hahn for fourth on the opening lap and remained in front thereafter as José Eduardo Rodrigues finished in sixth place.

In the battle to finish runner-up to Kiss in the overall standings, Jochen Hahn will start Race 4 one point ahead of Lenz, who had held second place for much of the season. However, Lenz will line up two places ahead of his fellow German on the final grid of the season. If Lenz beats Hahn by one position, they will finish equal on points and a tiebreak will be required to separate them.

Meanwhile, Steffi Halm, René Reinert, Smith and Newell completed the top 10 places with Taylor and Jonathn André next up. Spanish racer Luis Recuenco was 13th in his Mercedes-Benz following a brief off-track moment on the opening lap.

Steffen Faas hit back from his Saturday woes to finish 14th with Luke Garrett 15th after he spun at Turn 1 on lap five while trying to overtake Faas.

Clemens Hecker pitted on the final lap but was still classified 16th but Mika Mäkinen was a non-starter due to mechanical issues.

Lukas Hahn, Kiss and Smith start Race 4 in contention for the Goodyear Wingfoot Award with voting available on Instagram.

Race 4 brings the curtain down on the 2026 Goodyear FIA ETRC – and the 39th Grand Prix de España FIA Europeo de Camiones weekend – from 15:55 local time. The race will be streamed live on YouTube and shown by broadcasters across Europe and around the world.
