Kiss edges closer to Goodyear FIA ETRC qualifying clean sweep with Jarama pole
Norbert Kiss moved to within one pole position of a 2026 clean sweep in the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship after he completed Qualifying 1-2-3 at the top of the timing screens.
The recently-crowned* eight-time Goodyear FIA ETRC champion recorded a best lap of 1m56.590s to edge out Jochen Hahn and Sascha Lenz for his 13th pole position of 2026. If Kiss goes quickest again in Qualifying 4-5-6 tomorrow, then the Révész Racing driver will have gone unbeaten in qualifying this season.
Competing with MAN power, Kiss’s pacesetting effort of 1m56.590s was one thousandth of a second faster than his best pole position time from 2025, although the Hungarian put some of that pace gain down to the cooler conditions at Circuito de Madrid Jarama – RACE today.
“We cannot compare, last year was much hotter conditions,” said Kiss. “Now it’s colder but the circuit is still not 100 per cent dry, so it’s a bit difficult to compare the lap times and in half an hour we could have gone even more faster because of the temperature and the trucks are very sensitive to the temperature. If it’s a bit colder we can try to improve.”

Looking back on his latest pole position, which followed earlier rain, Kiss said: “It was very close to being dry but we don’t slow down for this. I always enjoy these changing conditions, it’s always very nice. Free practice was much more wet but also enjoyable and now in qualifying it was almost dry. I’m very happy with the pole position, good lap times and a good job from the team, Révész Racing again.”
On his return to Goodyear FIA ETRC action after he missed the last two events, race-by-race entrant Lukas Hahn was the quickest Chrome driver in sixth position overall behind fourth-placed Steffi Halm and local hero Antonio Albacete.
“We are really happy because the conditions are a little tricky,” said Hahn. “In the morning it was wet and for me it was the first time in the wet in Jarama. I’m also getting used to it but now it was nearly dry so we can push like we always want to do. We had a good lap time and the truck was also feeling good. The team made a good job, we’re very happy and excited for what the weekend brings and hopefully better weather conditions. Then we will have the last races of the season and have fun. We want to enjoy the show, also for the fans who are here around.”
In the battle for the Chrome title, defending champion Mark Taylor was quickest ahead of current points leader John Newell, the Britons ending up 10th and 11th respectively in the overall order.

How the battle for Goodyear FIA ETRC pole position unfolded

Steffi Halm was sixth quickest followed by René Reinert and Lukas Hahn, the fastest Chrome runner. Chrome points leader John Newell was next up as Mark Taylor demoted Bradley Smith for 10th place on the final lap. Jonathan André completed the list of drivers making it through to Q2. Despite their best efforts, Luis Recuenco, Steffen Faas, Luke Garrett and Mika Mäkinen missed out on a place in Q2, while Clemens Hecker was unable to take part during Qualifying 1-2-3.
Kiss, who topped topped the Q2 order in 1m56.789s Jochen Hahn, Lenz, Halm, Lukas Hahn and Albacete were the super-fast six who made it through to the Q3 pole position shootout in that order with Lukas Hahn’s performance securing the Chrome pole for Race 1.
