KISS TAKES POLE AT HOME EVENT

After having dominated the free practice sessions on Friday, Norbert Kiss stayed on top for qualifying, taking pole position for the first race of his home event.

His 2:17.914 was 0.696s up on second-placed Sascha Lenz, putting him in a class above the rest. Second through fourth were split by thousandths, with Adam Lacko and Jochen Hahn off Lenz’s pace by 0.07s.

Antonio Albacete completed the top five, 1.3s behind Kiss.

Stephanie Halm continued her Super Pole appearances with a sixth-place finish at the Hungaroring, with Téo Calvet taking Promoter’s Cup pole in overall seventh. It was a close fight for Promoter’s pole, however, as Steffen Faas was only a tenth off of Calvet’s time in eighth, class second.

Super Pole and the top ten was rounded off by Anthony Janiec and Shane Brereton, the latter taking third in the Promoter’s Cup.

Tomorrow’s Race One will see the Promoter’s Cup challengers start the closest they have been so far this season, so a fight for the front of the class could be on the cards coming into Turn 1.

Andre Kursim, Jamie Anderson and Martin Gibson completed the grid, with the three missing out on a Super Pole appearance.

Clemens Hecker was unfortunately unable to take part in the session after the high-pressure fuel pump failed.
