Kiss nets sixth pole of the season

Norbert Kiss has kept up his qualifying dominance by taking another pole position ahead of the third race at the Slovakia Ring.

The Hungarian had a clean session through to Super Pole where his 2:41.905 was over a tenth of a second faster than the rest of the grid.

It was once again Sascha Lenz battling for the second spot on the front row, but rather than Jochen Hahn, who he fought with in yesterday’s qualifying session, it was Adam Lacko who was looking to start beside Kiss. Split by 0.035s, it was close, but Lenz came out on top to repeat his Saturday qualifying performance.

Hahn will start the first race today fourth on the grid, with Antonio Albacete rounding off the top five.

Race Two overall winner Jamie Anderson had looked like he was in for another strong performance, setting the fifth fastest time in the 20 minute qualifying session. With all seven Titan drivers progressing, it was a tall ask of the Brit to stay in the fight for a top five starting position. Steffi Halm took sixth on the grid, but Anderson was only three-tenths off her 2:43.846, claiming seventh overall and Promoter’s Cup pole position.

Shane Brereton starts eighth (second in class) demoting Andre Kursim to ninth on the starting line up. It was a close battle between Brereton and Kursim, going to the wire with Kursim missing out on eighth by 0.003s. The Titan driver was just over a tenth off Anderson’s 2:44.116.

Teo Calvet was the last to progress through to Super Pole and will start tenth on the grid, third in class.

It wasn’t a close contention for the four remaining drivers who didn’t make it to Super Pole, with Jose Rodrigues 1.9s off Calvet’s time in 11th. He starts ahead of Promoter’s Cup double podium finisher from yesterday Steffen Faas, with Luis Recuenco beating Clemens Hecker to 13th by eight tenths of a second.
