Goodyear FIA ETRC offsets unavoidable emissions from the 2022 season
After reducing on track emissions by up to 92% over the last two years, ETRA has responsibly offset unavoidable emissions for the 2022 season
As a signatory of the UN Sports for Climate action and in accordance with the sustainability road map put in place, the Goodyear FIA ETRC has committed to measuring, reducing and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.
ETRA, the promoter of the championship, has taken into consideration emissions relating to transporting freight and teams to 8 events to calculate the carbon footprint of the series.
Unavoidable emissions from the 2022 season have been offset through investing in projects certified according to strict requirements of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) following the recommendations of the UN.
Through the implementation of 100% sustainable fuel in all racing trucks and the switch to a bio LNG powered IVECO pace truck, the championship has made another step towards achieving net zero, reducing its carbon emissions on the race track by up to 92% over the last two years.
The Goodyear FIA ETRC is working with its partners, teams and circuits as well as the FIA Sporting Working group to further reduce the environmental impact of the events.
“We are committed to using our platform to drive change and have already taken actionable steps towards minimising our carbon footprint,” said Georg Fuchs, Managing Director of ETRA.
