Truck Grand Prix Preview: Nürburgring Takes Centre Stage

The Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship heads to Germany for the second time this season, ready to take on its crown jewel: the International ADAC Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.

This is more than just a race weekend — it’s the highlight event of the season, drawing the biggest crowds, an electric festival atmosphere, and nine drivers racing on home soil. The iconic Nürburgring circuit is as demanding as it is legendary, pushing both trucks and drivers to their limits with its technical challenges.

The event also marks the midway point of the championship, with reigning champion Norbert Kiss continuing his dominant run. Kiss is having the season of his life and looks increasingly likely to make history as the first-ever seven-time champion in the series.

But the home crowd will be rooting for Jochen Hahn, the most successful driver on the current grid at the Nürburgring, with eleven career victories at this track. He’ll be aiming to close the gap and deliver a show for the fans.

Behind the two frontrunners, the battle for third in the Titan standings is heating up. Just 22 points separate Steffi Halm, René Reinert and Sacha Lenz, all of whom will be looking to use their home advantage to climb the leaderboard. Halm, in particular, has found strong form with her Iveco this season and took a victory at the Ring last year — she’s definitely one to watch.

Seventeen trucks line up on the grid this weekend. Stefan Kursch returns after missing two rounds due to injury, while Lukas Hahn makes his race-by-race return for his home event. Their presence will make the already intense Chrome class battle even tighter.

It’s a British showdown at the top of Chrome, with Bradley Smith leading the standings after another win and a string of podiums in Slovakia. Mark Taylor, who had a quiet round last time out, will be looking to bounce back and close the gap.

Meanwhile, Steffen Faas seems to have overcome the reliability issues with his new Freightliner. He was rapid in Slovakia and will be hungry to repeat that performance in front of his home fans. Clemens Hecker also impressed at the Slovakia Ring, taking a Chrome win and showing strong pace that could shake up the front of the class.

With a packed grid, passionate fans and everything to play for, the Nürburgring promises to deliver a spectacular weekend of racing and entertainment.
