INTRODUCING THE TRUCK EFFICIENCY RUN

An innovative competition bridging the gap between road transport and motorsport, while highlighting the role of professional drivers in a sustainable future

The Promoter of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) is excited to announce the launch of the Truck Efficiency Run (TER).

This unique competition is designed to challenge drivers on efficiency rather than speed, testing their ability to drive in real-world conditions and highlight their skills, precision and smart strategy.

The event will take place at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, a track renowned for its demanding layout and its ability to challenge the best of the best.

“With the Truck Efficiency Run, we are creating an exciting new platform that connects the world of motorsport, namely truck racing, with the daily realities of the road transport industry,” said Georg Fuchs, ETRA Managing Director. “This competition is about more than just speed - it’s about efficiency, precision and the strategic brilliance of professional drivers who play a vital role in shaping a sustainable future for transport.”

Participants will compete in different technology categories, ranging from traditional diesel-powered trucks to cutting-edge electric and hydrogen vehicles.

The Run is powered by Krone, one of the championship’s partners, and a leading company in transport solutions known for its focus on efficiency and innovation. Krone places a strong emphasis on sustainability in its business operations, continuously optimising its products to reduce fuel consumption and increase efficiency. With lightweight, aerodynamic trailers and intelligent systems designed to minimise fuel usage, Krone is a pioneer in advancing a more efficient and sustainable transport industry.

“As a partner of the first Truck Efficiency Run, we’re proud to actively contribute to this new kind of competition,” said Simon Richenhagen, Head of Marketing and Communications at Krone. “It provides a strong platform to demonstrate how modern vehicle technology and skilled driving can work together to improve efficiency and sustainability in road transport.”

As part of the #onetruckfamily campaign, the competition underscores the importance of skilled professionals in the trucking industry and highlights the vital role of drivers in creating a more sustainable and more efficient transportation ecosystem.
