Championship Showdown Looms as Season Resumes at Autodrom Most
As the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship roars back to life after the summer break, the action is set to intensify at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.
With just three rounds remaining in the 2024 season, the battle for the championship is heating up.Heading into the Most round, Norbert Kiss is firmly in the driver’s seat, leading the championship standings. The Hungarian driver has been the class of the field this season, showcasing a blend of speed, consistency and race craft that has seen him collect a substantial lead of 55 points. However, with three rounds and 12 races still to go, nothing is set in stone and the competition is breathing down his neck.
Jochen Hahn, Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albacete remain Kiss’s closest rivals. Hahn, a six-time champion, has the experience and the skill to mount a late-season charge. Meanwhile, Lenz has proven to be a formidable force, frequently challenging at the front and keeping the pressure on the leaders. Albacete has had a strong showing last time out at the Nürburgring and is capable of shaking up the championship dynamics with strong performances in the remaining rounds. The trio will be looking to close the gap at Most, knowing that a strong showing could be crucial in their bid to dethrone Kiss.
The Chrome class has also seen intense competition this season. José Eduardo Rodrigues has emerged as the standout competitor, showcasing impressive speed and consistency that have kept him at the top of the standings.
However there is still plenty to play for in the last three rounds with Faas, Taylor and Newell all in the mix for top positions. Each of these drivers has shown flashes of brilliance, making the Chrome class unpredictable and exciting this the season. As the championship resumes at Most, the fight for supremacy in this class will be one to watch closely.
Race-by-race entry Bradley Smith returns with Don't Touch Racing once again to build on his experience racing in the Goodyear FIA ETRC.
Autodrom Most is a challenging circuit known for its mix of fast straights and technical corners, providing plenty of opportunities for overtaking and close racing and the unpredictable weather is sure to spice things up.
