PREVIEW HUNGARY

Fans can expect a Super Racing Festival of Motorsport, as the truck racing grid is joined by the FIA World Touring Car Cup and the FIA eTouring Car World Cup at the Hungaroring this weekend.

The opening round of the 2022 Goodyear FIA ETRC saw three different drivers take the top step in the first four races.

In a closely knitted battle in the top group, Norbert Kiss took two wins, while Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albacete each won one race in Misano.

German truck racing champion Jochen Hahn showed some good speed, finishing on the podium three times in Italy, and he will want to better his performance to take his first win of the season.

Czech Buggyra Racer Adam Lacko will be looking to get back into the mix this weekend, making up for lost points in Italy, where he had to retire twice with damage to his Freightliner.

René Reinert will be forced to sit out the next round at the Hungaroring, as the German driver sustained a shoulder injury, which leaves him unable to steer and shift gears. He will be replaced by British racer Martin Gibson, who finished third in the British Truck Racing Championship last season.

The Promoter’s Cup is set to see another exciting battle for points on the weekend. Téo Calvet, who won three out of four races in Italy, is currently on top of the leaderboard. His closest rival Shane Brereton, who took a win in Misano, will be looking to take the top step once again at the Hungaroring.

The action gets underway with free practice on Friday at midday, followed by the all-important qualifying in the afternoon, and two races on Saturday and Sunday.
