2023 SEASON ENTRY LIST REVEALED
The 2023 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship will feature thirteen full-season entries for the forthcoming season which begins at Misano, Italy later this month.
Heading up the grid is four-time Goodyear FIA ETRC champion Norbert Kiss in his #1 Reveśz Racing MAN. Having won the last two titles in a row, the Hungarian will be keen to make it a hat-trick this season.
One of Kiss’ main rivals over the last couple of seasons, Jochen Hahn, will be determined to re-claim the title that he last won in 2019. Hahn’s Iveco looked in good shape at the recent test at Autodrom Most and he will for sure take the fight to Kiss.
Fellow German Sascha Lenz will take to the track in a striking new truck and livery. Having missed out on the runner-up position in the Championship by 10 points to rival Jochen Hahn last year, Lenz will be motivated to get ahead of his fellow countryman this season.
Spanish truck racing champion Antonio Albacete returns to the grid with a brand-new MAN truck. Albacete claimed a victory and several podiums last season and he will use all of his experience this year to fight for more wins with TSport Bernau.
Having finished runner-up in the Promoter’s Cup last season and sixth overall, Jamie Anderson will be competing in the overall category this year. He had a strong run in 2022, taking 4 overall victories and will for sure be one to watch this season.
Steffi Halm returns with the German Schwabentruck outfit in her orange IVECO truck. Halm made it onto the podium once last year and will want to become a regular on the ETRC podium again.
The third IVECO on the grid will be steered by André Kursim. The Don’t Touch Racing driver took a sweet victory in the last round of 2022 and will be targeting the addition of more wins this season.
German racer Steffen Faas, will be a hot favourite in the Promoter’s Cup. The tankpool24 driver took 10 podiums and a win last year and will be gunning for glory this season.
Challenging him in his mission will be Portuguese racer and reigning French Truck Racing Champion José Eduardo Rodrigues and fellow SCANIA driver Clemens Hecker, who both took podium finishes last year.
Spaniard Luis Recuenco re-joins the ETRC grid for a full season, swapping his MAN for an overhauled IVECO.
British racer John Newell, who entered two events last year, will undertake a full campaign this year and aim to become a regular on the podium in the Promoter’s Cup.
A new team in the paddock this season will be the British Taylors Trucksport Racing Team. Having raced in the British Championship for the last five years, Mark Taylor will use his experience to challenge his fellow Chrome category drivers for podiums.
“The countdown has started and we’re looking forward to the season to kick off in a few weeks time in Misano,” said Rolf Werner, Managing Director of ETRA. “The teams have been busy working on their trucks over the winter and the grid looks once again very competitive. We’ve seen some great battles last year which went down to the wire and without a doubt we’re in for some exciting racing action again.
It’s great to see the continuous commitment from our teams to the ETRC and together we can grow our great platform and provide the fans and our partners with great racing spectacle again this season.”
The Goodyear FIA ETRC kicks off at World Circuit Marco Simoncelli Misano in Italy on 20/21 May with the first four races of the season.
